San Martino is located in a private and secluded area on a hillside promontory offering outstanding views over the Chianti region of Tuscany, to the east, and the Apennine Mountains to the north.
Pisa, Florence and Siena are all less than an hour away, perfect for sightseeing and keeping your airport transfers smooth and easy. Locally, San Gimignano, the medieval Manhattan, and its rival Volterra, offer spectacular attractions, architecture, art, restaurants, shopping, vineyards and festivals all on your doorstep.
San Martino is situated approximately 10 kilometres north-west of San Gimignano, and the house is approximately three kilometres from the village of Il Castagno which offers handy restaurant and shopping facilities.
The property is set in approximately 16 acres of its own gardens, fringed by olive groves, vineyards and forest, which are typical of the local area. Beautiful flora and fauna abound. Cinghiale (wild boar), Capriolo (roe deer) and Gufi (owls) can be spotted in the vicinity, while the natural grassland is a mass of wild fennel, coriander, mints and other aromatic herbs and flowers. The gardens immediately surrounding the properties and pools have been sympathetically landscaped but much has been left to nature.
